NEW RELEASES & UPCOMING EVENTS
Actor Needs Restraint! by Andy Jones and Health Explored by Dr. Mike Wahl and Braeden King are both out now, and available from Breakwater Books! See below and watch our socials for upcoming signings and events for both books!
Praise for Actor Needs Restraint!: "An amazing book of scripts that is both hilarious and has a lot of soul. If you are a fan of Andy Jones as I am, you can easily imagine him acting out these scripts as you read them. If you are unluckily not a fan of Andy yet, you will find it so well written, you will enjoy and laugh the whole time reading it, anyway. Then when you are finished reading it, you will be sad that you never got to see these shows - like I am." — Kevin McDonald of Kids in The Hall fame
Praise for Health Explored: "In Health Explored: A Journey in Happiness, Healing, and Humanity, Dr. Wahl beautifully explores different ways of achieving the good life, as he travels the world to experience how other countries and cultures are doing it. After reading this book you will feel so hopeful and positive that you will want to read it again and again." — Hassan Khalili, PhD, psychologist and author of A Life Spent Listening

Welcome to the team!
Say hello to Rebecca Roberts who has joined the Breakwater Books team as our marketing coordinator!
Rebecca was born and raised on the west coast of Newfoundland, and has lived in St. John's for the past ten years. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English and History in 2019 and a Master of Arts in English in 2021. ARCHIVE AND BACKLIST HIGHLIGHTS
This month, we're throwing it back to two titles from Breakwater's extensive history!
From the archive: Borrowed Black, originally published in 1979 and released as an anniversary edition in 2005, is a groundbreaking work of children's fantasy fiction, set in Labrador and shared all over the world. Keep an eye out — we might just have some news about a reprint coming soon!
From the recent backlist: Agnes Walsh, revered Newfoundland poet, released her latest collection of poetry with Breakwater last year in 2024 — The Wind Has Robbed The Legs Off a Madwoman. If you don't have this one on your bookshelf yet, what are you waiting for? Stop by our store on Stamps Lane to add it to your collection.
