This week we hit a milestone and we're pretty proud. Our authors have racked up 25 award nominations and wins so far in 2021. From longlists and shortlists to a win for the APMA Best Atlantic-Published Book (two years running)! A huge round of applause is in order for our authors and the whole Breakwater team.

Chief Mi'sel Joe and Sheila O'Neill spoke about their new book, My Indian, the story of Sylvester Joe, the importance of Indigenous education in school curriculum, and the controversy that came with the title of the book on CBC Newfoundland Morning. Tune in at 9:55 to hear the full interview.
High praise for The Ice Shack and Little Red Shed
Two of our children's books have received special recognition. The Ice Shack written by Katia Canciani, illustrated by Christian Quesnel and translated by Jocelyne Thomas and Little Red Shed by Adam and Jennifer Young have been included in the Best Books for Kids and Teens 2021 catalogue, put together by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre. Each book also received a star which signifies a “title of exceptional calibre.”
